Living Your Strengths
Discover Your God-Given Talents and Inspire Your Community

Picture
While millions of people in the U.S. are actively involved in some sort of religious organization, many people feel disengaged from their faith communities. More than half report that they really don't get the opportunity in their congregation to do what they do best. The problem is this: too many people's talents are going unappreciated. But it doesn't have to be this way. Living Your Strengths shows readers how to use their innate gifts to enrich their faith communities. The book shows people how to identify and affirm their talents, and how to use them for growth and service. Most importantly, Living Your Strengths helps people discover their true callings. The book includes an ID code that gives readers access to StrengthsFinder.com, a personality assessment that reveals the user's top five talents.

Emotionally Healthy

Picture
By: Peter Scazzero
The Emotionally Healthy Church is the first book by Peter Scazzero that led to his writing "Emotionally Healthy Spirituality".  While E.H.S. deals specifically with the individual, this book addresses the same topic on a church wide basis.
His premise is that a church congregation needs to be spiritually and emotionally healthy; in fact, "you cannot have the one without the other."  Although much of the book is repeated in E.H.S. it is a good overview of how to be a healthy people creating healthy communities.

We've included the link to www.emotionallyhealthy.org rather than Amazon, like the rest of our books because there are additional resources on this website.

Advent Conspiracy: Can Christmas Still Change The World?

Picture
By: Rick McKinley, Chris Seay, Greg Holder
Each year Americans spend billions of dollars on material items at Christmas. That is a pretty weird way to celebrate the birth of Jesus, who gave up all of his riches to save the world. Christmas for Christians can be a time, however that is not a contradiction. It can be a time of worship, meaning and giving that is prophetic, powerful and transformative. In celebrating Christmas in the way of the story Christ followers are taught how to worship fully, spend less, give more and love all this Christmas and every Christmas.

Worship More, Spend Less, Give Presence, Love All Are you tired of how consumerism has stolen the soul of Christmas? This year, take a stand! Join the groundswell of Christ-followers who are choosing to make Christmas what it should be - a joyous celebration of Jesus' birth that enriches our hearts and the world around us, not a retail circus that depletes our pocketbooks and defeats our spirits. Advent Conspiracy shows you how to substitute consumption with compassion by practicing four simple but powerful, countercultural concepts: Worship Fully - because Christmas begins and ends with Jesus!  Spend Less - and free your resources for things that truly matter. Give More - of your presence: your hands, your words, your time, your heart. Love All - the poor, the forgotten, the marginalized, and the sick in ways that make a difference. Find out how to have a Christmas worth remembering, not dreading. Christmas can still change the world when you, like Jesus, give what matters most - your presence.
