Really Amazing

“Really Amazing”
Susan and I were sitting on our deck down at the Jersey Shore.  It was early evening, the sun had just about disappeared over the bay and a sliver of the moon was shining in the distant sky.  We were doing our afternoon/evening Daily Office (“Engage The Word”), and in our time of  silence I was looking around.  I saw the beautiful houses next door and I thought, “Those houses are amazing.”  Then I gazed at the beauty of the orange light and magnificent clouds around the fading sunset and I thought “But that is really amazing.”  I saw and heard the cars passing by and I thought, “Wow, man’s ingenuity is amazing.” Then I looked at the moon and I thought, “But God’s creative ability is really amazing.”  I heard a person talking on her cellphone and I thought, “Wireless ability to communicate, how amazing.”  Then I saw the stars in the night sky and thought about the ocean’s roar and marveled about a human life holding that phone and I thought…”But God is really amazing.”
Man does amazing things.  But God does really amazing things.
Man has abilities.  But God has really amazing abilities.
Mankind is amazing.  But God is really amazing.
In the silence and through the Word I am reminded what an amazing God we have.  No matter the difficulties or challenges we face, no matter the place in life where we have come from or the frontier we are yet to encounter, we do so with an amazing God.
      A really amazing God.
Indescribable
by Chris Tomlin
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we…
Shalom!
What do you think?  How does it make you feel?
Blessings,
Steven
